Most of brazilian land is on Brasília's time zone (GMT -3). However, the easternmost (some of Brazil's notheast region) and westernmost (Amazonas, Pará, Acre and some others) parts are in different time zones (GMT -2 and GMT -4).

Oh ok. I was kinda thinking Brazil is a pretty big country to be on one time zone. I am in Canada so we have everything from GMT -8 to GMT -3.5 (yeah...Newfoundland is in a "half" time zone)...hahaha

Actually, I did a quick googling, and discovered that some parts are in a fourth time zone, but only the easternmost part of the Acre state:

Wise decision, lol. I live in the south, in Santa Catarina, a state with a heavy german and italian tradition, due to our colonisation by these two countries.

I suggest you to come next year, in the middle of the year, during our winter. Santa Catarina is a turistic state with hundreds of beaches, and the prices of everything almost double during summer, when the coastal population also doubles. You can get nice deals coming during other times than the turistic season.

If you really want to come here I can give you a nice list of delicacies to try, that aren't caipirinha or feijoada. Pão-de-queijo (cheeseloaf) for example, is traditional of Minas Gerais, and unbelieavably delicious. Pamonha is a sweet, soft loaf made of corn, salty or sweet, mainly found during the winter. And in the south we eat a lot of pinhão, simply the ripe fruit of a type of pine tree. And if you are thirsty, in the summer you can drink an ice-cold caldo de cana, a juice made from sugarcane and sometimes lemon (bet option!). In the winter you can ask for a quentão, hot wine with cinammon, clove and orange.

Oops, I know this is a car blog, but I also love cuisine.
